Today, on 23rd May 2018, the Dutch Cycling Embassy, Ministry of Infrastructure and Water and Dutch Cyclists' Union, held a meeting for a delegation from Central European countries. The meeting was the part of the tour ‘Cycle the Dutch Way’ organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
During the presentations, participants had a chance to learn more about the history of Dutch Cycling, infrastructure and bicycle policy in the Netherlands as well as develop knowledge about cyclist safety. The Dutch Cycling Embassy presented the history and facts about cycling in the Netherlands.
The main interest of the representatives was focused on the benefits of cycling and the issues of implementing the priority for bikes in the cities. The participants also discussed and compared the conditions of their countries which can be relevant and can help to make decisions for the mobility strategy.
After the meeting at the Municipality of Amsterdam, the representatives of City Offices and Cycling Associations from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia, Hungary and Romania will experience the Dutch way of cycling by taking part in a Bicycle Tour through Amsterdam.
Tomorrow they will continue their 4-days tour by taking part in the meetings with experts from the Municipality of Utrecht and the Municipality of Nijmegen and cycling expert Mr. Sjors van Duren. The day will finish with the bicycle tour to the fast lane route.
During the last day of the tour, the participants will have an opportunity to meet more cycling oriented companies in Rotterdam (Goudappel Coffeng, Mobycon, Move Mobility, APPM, Urban Arrow) and next they will go back to Amsterdam for a meeting at the University of Amsterdam.
