DCE Attends IAA Mobility Summit in Münich
DCE joins delegation of Dutch organizations and entrepreneurs at the IAA Mobility Summit in Münich.
The IAA Mobility (7 to 12 September 2021) in Munich focuses on the mobility of the future. It is the place to share knowledge and innovation, to network and especially: to do business! The Dutch Cycling Embassy went to Munich together with ROM Utrecht Region, NLinBusiness, Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO), and the Dutch Consulate in Munich. Together with a diverse group of entrepreneurs, including a number of DCE participants and parties with a focus on sustainable mobility, they formed the Dutch delegation. Bas Akkers, Business advisor Trade at ROM Utrecht Region, tells about this week full of highlights:
"The IAA was originally a very car-oriented fair. When Messe München brought the fair to Munich, it did so under the condition that the theme had to be mobility of the future. With this theme, the IAA became spot on for the Utrecht region and its companies, which can make a substantial contribution to the global challenges that exist in mobility.
We talk a lot to entrepreneurs who have international ambitions. Germany is often the number one focus market. Our network is in good order; we have good contacts with the municipality of Munich, the Dutch Consulate in Munich, and NL In Business Hub Munich. Around the IAA it was therefore relatively easy to organize all kinds of networking activities, matchmaking and other events for our entrepreneurs. For example, we met with over 100 entrepreneurs in an informal setting in a famous Munich Biergarten!
A highlight was the programming at the Citizens Lab on one of the most beautiful squares in Munich: the Marienplatz. Alderman Eerenberg (Utrecht) and several entrepreneurs talked about the mobility solutions chosen in the Netherlands and Utrecht, and certainly not forgetting the bicycle. The 'mobility narrative' was convincingly presented and received in Munich! Think, for example, of more room for the bicycle, the stimulation of emission-free transport and sustainable forms of delivery services."
The Dutch Cycling Embassy uses the participation in the Citizens Lab at the IAA as one of the activities in the focus on Germany. In the coming period we will work with the cycling companies in the network and among others the ROM Utrecht Region, Dutch Embassy in Berlin, and the consulates on a multi-year programming on Germany. The next activities in this framework are the webinars that will start from October 2021, in which Dutch bicycle experts will share their knowledge with German administrators and policy makers.
